    The Imagine Garden Is
  • A network of gardens
  • A prayer — May every mind remember God
  • A point of focus
  • An intention — Awakening to Our Oneness
  • An online community

image - Imagine Garden drawingThe Imagine Garden began as a childhood quest to understand why there were so many religions… each one seeming to say, “We are right — those others are wrong (or incomplete).”
The concept of an actual Imagine Garden began because of an intention stated as a prayer...Let this call for Love be answered through me now.

This prayer, made on 9/11 and in the days after, brought forth an idea that in our human self, we really can’t know why there are so many religions—but we CAN learn to respect and value each other, and see our diversity as a richness of human capital…part of our shared wealth.

Each aspect of the Imagine Garden is conceived to help us Awaken to Our Oneness and begin to see ourselves as one. In our human form and choices, we are different in many ways but always imaged in the Name and likeness of God. As our minds awaken to this thought, our choices and decisions will naturally be kinder and gentler.

The Imagine Garden — A Reality

There are just three REQUIRED elements of an Imagine Garden and a great deal of flexibility and options. Each Imagine Garden WILL:

  • Honor ALL faith traditions
    • The available size for the garden may determine how large the symbols that represent each faith can be
    • The concept must acknowledge that ALL faiths are worthy of respect and have value
    • The symbols used to represent the faith will be in alphabetic order. Here is a synopsis of the beliefs and meanings of the symbols for the represented faith traditions
  • Provide places to sit for prayer, meditation, contemplation or even conversation
  • Have a water feature, preferably a waterfall or at least fountain or a pond
Additional suggested features as space and funds allow:
  • A gazebo for seating that is weather-friendly
  • A labyrinth of at least seven circuits
  • A gateway that suggests entering a sacred space
  • More elaborate plans and suggestions will be posted
Design ideas for how to create physical representations of the symbols are being discussed, e.g., mosaics made of stone or glass; templates for painting the symbols on large smooth stones; wood, etc.. If you have suggestions, please let us know. Also, please let us know if you would like for us to consider including information about another faith tradition.
